Cheshire Public Schools Ranked Among the Best in Connecticut

The national survey by Niche.com ranked the district No. 18 overall while Cheshire High also earned high marks.

Cheshire Public Schools has been ranked as the 18th best public school system in Connecticut, according to the 2015 rankings released by Niche, a national online educational and neighborhood ranking service.

Additionally, Cheshire High School was ranked as the 13th best high school in the state. Cheshire High School was also recently ranked as one of the top high schools in the nation by Newsweek Magazine.

Niche’s Best Public School Districts survey ranked 8,738 school districts based on dozens of key statistics and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents. A high ranking indicates that the district contains great schools with exceptional teachers, sufficient resources, and a diverse set of high-achieving students who rate their experiences very highly. “We are very happy to be recognized by Niche.com, both CHS as well as the district as a whole,” Cheshire Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Florio wrote in an email to Patch. “I have not looked at their methodology in detail but am pleased that our high marks were in academics, teachers and student activities.

“Our ranking is a recognition of the very high value that the entire Cheshire community places on education.”

The Cheshire district received grades of A in the areas of academics, health and safety, teachers; A- for extracurriculars and activities; a B for sports and fitness; and B- for student culture and resources and facilities, and a 4.1 out of 5 in the parent/student overall experience survey.
