Cheshire Rep. Appointed to Vice Chair of Committee on Veterans’ Affairs

Rep. Liz Linehan (D-Cheshire) was appointed Vice Chair of the legislature's Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

From the CT House Democrats Office: Rep. Liz Linehan (D-Cheshire) was appointed Vice Chair of the legislature’s Committee on Veterans’ Affair son Friday. She was also appointed to serve on the Children’s, Commerce, and Environment Committees.

“These committee assignments will allow me to focus on issues that are important to my constituents. It is an honor to be chosen as Vice Chair of the Veteran’s Committee as a freshman legislator, and I could not be more proud to serve our veterans in this capacity,” Rep. Linehan said. “I am here thanks to each of the veterans who fought for our democracy, and I will never forget that. I would like to thank the Speaker of the House for my appointments, and I look forward to getting to work right away.”

“We’re very happy to have Rep. Linehan join us in the House, and I look forward to working with her,” House Speaker Aresimowicz said. “She is passionate about serving the people of Cheshire, Southington and Wallingford, and I’m confident that she will make positive contributions to her committees’ work.”

Rep. Linehan has supported veterans’ causes in her personal life and currently volunteers with the organization Til Duty is Done bringing holiday meals to local veterans.

The Veteran’s Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to military and veterans' affairs, except veterans' pensions. Rep. Jack Hennessy (D-Bridgeport) will continue as committee chair.
