Cheshire Residents Urged To Follow Recycling Rules
Officials are asking residents to not place non-recyclable materials in recycling bins, saying it costs taxpayers money & won't be collected
CHESHIRE, CT — Officials are asking residents to not place non-recyclable materials in their green recycling bins, saying contaminated loads cost taxpayers money and won’t be collected.
“These materials contaminate the entire load,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Therefore, green bins that contain non-recyclable items will not be collected. We understand that families staying home due to the pandemic generate more trash than usual, but the excess material cannot be placed in the recycling bin. Contaminated loads cost the taxpayers money, and endanger the recycling stream. Please help your community by finding alternative means to dispose of your trash. Your cooperation in this difficult time is greatly appreciated.”
