Escaped Man Taken Into Custody, Arrested: Cheshire Police
A man who had escaped from custody at the MidState Medical Center earlier in the week was arrested Sunday night, according to police.
CHESHIRE, CT — The man who escaped from custody at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden earlier in the week was taken into custody by Cheshire police on Sunday night, according to officials.
Michael V. Zimmitti, 29, was taken into custody in Cheshire around 10:20 p.m. on May 28, according to police.
Zimmitti, who was originally arrested Wednesday on a warrant in connection with the theft of a vehicle, escaped from custody while receiving treatment at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, police said on Thursday morning.

Zimmitti was arrested Sunday night on charges of escape from custody and interfering with an officer. He was being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
Police said “based on action” that happened while taking him into custody, Zimmitti was charged with interfering with an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in lieu of an additional $50,000 bond for those charges, according to police.

If Zimmitti is unable to post bond, police said he will be taken to Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday.
