Here’s How Cheshire Residents Voted In 2018 Primary Election

Here is how Cheshire residents voted in Tuesday night's primary elections.

CHESHIRE, CT — The battle to succeed Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in November will come down to Democrat Ned Lamont and Republican Bob Stefanowski. Lamont walloped his primary challenger Joseph Ganim by 171,658 to 39,854, while Stefanowski earned 41,957 votes followed by Mark D. Boughton, 30,457, David Stemerman, 26,266, Tim Herbst, 25,091, and Steve Obstinik, 19,119.

For Lieutenant Governor, Democrat Susan Bysiewicz defeated Eva Zimmerman by a margin of 129,484 to 78,870 and on the Republican side Joe Markley defeated Erin Stewart and Jayme Stevenson. Markley earned 65,702 votes, Stewart, 45,258 and Stevenson, 27,138.

Other big winners from across the state last night include: Matthew Corey, who won his GOP primary to run for U.S. Senate against Chris Murphy, and in the 5th District congressional primary former Teacher of the Year Jahana Hayes defeated her challenger Mary Glassman while on the Republican side Manny Santos defeated Ruby Corby-O’Neil and Rich DuPont. Democrats picked William Tong to run for State Attorney General and Republicans picked Sue Hatfield. For Treasurer, Democrats voted for Shawn Wooden and Republican chose Thad Gray.

In Cheshire, Lamont received 1,675 votes and Ganim had 302. Bysiewicz garnered 1,312 votes while Zimmerman received 676 votes.

On the Republican side in Cheshire, Stefanowski received 611 votes, while Boughton had 310 and was followed by Stemerman, 295, Herbst, 289, and Obsitnik, 238. Markley received 1,191votes, while Stewart had 367 and Stevenson finished with 152.

In the District 5 race for Democrats, Hayes received 1,337 votes while Glassman had 656. For Republicans, Santos finished with 951 votes, while DuPont had 342 and Corby-O’Neill finished with 339.

Also, Democrats in the 16th Senatorial District challenger Vickie Orsini Nardello won a tight race for state senator and did so in Cheshire as well, receiving 268 votes while Dagmara Scalise had 205. In the 13th Senatorial District, endorsed Democratic candidate Mary Daugherty Abrams won the overall race and in Cheshire with 1,138 votes to 337 for challenger Alex Tiktinsky.
