Information Sought For Development Of Property In Cheshire

Officials are asking residents to take part in an online survey to help determine the future of the former Chapman property in Cheshire.

CHESHIRE, CT — Officials are asking residents to take part in an online survey to help determine the future of the former Chapman property in Cheshire. The Cheshire Parks & Recreation Department and the town are developing a master plan to determine the best use of the 10-acre parcel of land acquired by the town in 2016.

The parcel is adjacent to the southern border of Bartlem Park and is often familiarly, and unofficially, called the “Chapman Property.” In the survey and study, the property is being referred to as “Bartlem Park South.”

“Through proper analysis, planning, and design, this endeavor will provide a comprehensive vision for the development of the Bartlem Park South parcel as another public asset to add to the parks and open space system of the Town of Cheshire,” the introduction to the survey reads. “Funding for the study has been provided by the Town of Cheshire.”

Officials say that by answering the questions in the survey, they will be “providing essential information that will help the project's Steering Committee identify the most critical needs. The information collected will allow for a baseline understanding of current park use, and help guide future improvements.”

The deadline to complete the survey is Saturday, Sept. 28.
