Masked Man Tried To Rob Stop & Shop Customer: Cheshire Police

Police say a man wearing a ski mask tried to rob a customer in the Stop & Shop parking lot early Saturday morning.

CHESHIRE, CT — A masked man tried to rob a customer in the Stop & Shop parking lot early Saturday morning, according to police. At around 6:45 a.m. on March 28, Cheshire police responded to Stop & Shop, 275 Highland Ave., on the report of an attempted robbery.

Police said a suspect, described as a black man wearing a ski mask, approached a customer in the parking lot and demanded their car keys. The customer refused and the suspect fled the scene in a silver Nissan Altima, according to police.

There was no further description of the man or the vehicle. No weapons were suggested or displayed, police said.

“The Cheshire Police Department has already been stepping up patrols of all open businesses in town in response to the COVID-19 emergency,” police wrote in a news release. “We encourage everyone to be vigilant at home and when traveling.”
