Obituary: Joanne S. Newton, 64, Of Cheshire

CHESHIRE, CT — (From B.C. Bailey Funeral Home): Joanne S. Newton, 64, of Cheshire, departed this life on December 7, 2023 at her home with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Kenneth Newton. Joanne was born in Middletown, CT on January 2, 1959 to the late John and Charlotte (Currier) Schneiter.

Joanne graduated from UConn and spent the bulk of her career coaching and teaching swimming. Whether it was infant aquatics or state champions, Coach Jo was the person to have in your corner. Joanne was an incredible wife, mother and most of all, a fighter.

Joanne is survived by her husband Dr. Kenneth Newton, her sons Alex, Kyle and Connor, and her daughter, Tori.

An informal visitation and time for remembrance will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St. Wallingford, CT 06492. Services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Joanne's memory to the American Cancer Society, CPR Dogs, and Eleventh Hour Rescue. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford, Connecticut has been entrusted with her arrangements.
