Obituary: Lillian Derganc, 90, Of Cheshire
A longtime teacher at Doolittle & Darcey schools, she was also a licensed & certified psychological counselor for over 26 years in Cheshire.
CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Lillian Derganc, a devoted mother, esteemed school teacher, and compassionate member of the community, passed away after a short illness on September 6, 2023, at the age of 90. Born on June 4, 1933, in Waterbury, CT, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Ciarcia) Coscia.
Having lived in Cheshire and Meriden, Lillian was a woman of great intellect and dedication, earning her B.A. degree in English from the University of Connecticut and her M.S. degree in Clinical Counseling from Central Connecticut State College. She utilized her vast knowledge and love for teaching to nurture young minds for 26 years at the Doolittle and Darcey Schools in Cheshire.
Lillian's passion for helping others extended beyond the classroom, as she also maintained a successful practice as a licensed and certified psychological counselor for over 26 years in Cheshire and an additional 8 years in Torrington.

Apart from her professional accomplishments, Lillian was an active member of the community. She was a respected member of the Cheshire Lutheran Church, where she found solace in her faith and shared her kindness with fellow congregation members.
Lillian's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving relatives, including her loving son, Alan D. Oeschger and his wife Lauren, their children Adrienne and Andrew and grandchildren, Sebastian and Avery, her brother Dr. Joseph F. Coscia, Jr. and his wife Ruth (Krock) Coscia, her sister Joan (Coscia) Faulkner and her spouse Kelli Filosa, her nephew Gregory R. Faulkner, her niece, Deborah (Faulkner) Crowell and many other nieces and nephews. Her warm and nurturing presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Lillian's life will be held on Friday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Cheshire Lutheran Church, located at 660 West Main Street. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium at the Cheshire Lutheran Church. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street has care of arrangements.
