Obituary: Marianna (Solomita) Stango, 75, Of Cheshire
She was a middle school and high school math teacher for 34 years, and worked as a math tutor for many years after retirement.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Marianna (Solomita) Stango, 75, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully, after a 14-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease at Skyview Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford, Connecticut on Monday, November 20, 2023. She was the loving wife to her husband of 44 years, Albert Stango.
Marianna was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on October 29, 1948, daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Valvo) Solomita. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, class of 1966. She also earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Math from Sacred Heart University, and additionally earned her Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Central Connecticut State University.
She was a middle school and high school math teacher for the City of Waterbury for 34 years, retiring from the district in 2004. Following her retirement, Marianna worked as a math tutor for many years.

She was happiest being with her family, most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings at her home, especially baking Christmas cookies for her family and friends. She also was an avid traveler, especially traveling alongside her family. She visited many places such as Cape Cod, Florida, Virginia, Atlantic City, and Italy. She was also a Treasurer at the American Gymnastics Training Center located in Southington, Connecticut.
Marianna was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Besides her husband, Marianna is survived by her two sons, Christopher Stango, and Nicholas and his wife, Diana (Lewellyn) Stango, all of Cheshire. She leaves her three beloved granddaughters, Savannah, Hailey, and Charlotte Stango. She also leaves her twin sister, Palma Solomita, along with her niece and Goddaughter, Palma Salcito, both of Cheshire. She also leaves her special cousin, Patricia Desjardins and her husband, Thomas of Watertown. She also leaves many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren.
Arrangements - Marianna’s funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023 from The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, to St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Road, Cheshire, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Visitation will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease Research.
