Obituary: Mary L. (Smith) Joyce, 67; Formerly Of Cheshire
She was an active alumnus, recently serving as treasurer for the upcoming 50th class reunion, an event she was very much looking forward to.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Mary L. (Smith) Joyce, 67, of Wallingford, passed away on June 26, 2023, at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden.
Mary was born in Harwinton on July 6, 1955, daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie (Munsell) Smith.
Mary worked in many fields during her life, including banking, aiding students at Lyman Hall High School, and most recently was a medical assistant before her retirement. She was a dear friend to so many people and was so instrumental in finding and reconnecting with old classmates from Cheshire High School, from which she graduated in 1973.

She was an active alumnus, recently serving as treasurer for their upcoming 50th class reunion, an event she was very much looking forward to attending. In years past, she was very active in youth sports, donating her time to coaching and managing local and regional Pop Warner football and cheerleading.
Mary had many interests throughout her life. She loved animals, especially her cats, gardening, boating, and could usually be found watching a Harry Potter film.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Cheri Joyce and her partner Nick Vazquez of Wallingford, her son, Kevin Joyce and his partner Renee Remmers of Plainville, and her brother, Mark Smith, Sr. of Bristol.
At Mary’s request, there will be no memorial service, instead her family asks that flowers be planted in Mary’s memory or that a donation be made to a local Humane Society. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.
