Obituary: Patricia Cummings, 91, Of Cheshire
She taught elementary school in the Cheshire Public Schools for the better part of 20 years until her retirement in 1996.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Patricia Cummings passed away at the age of 91 on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Mulberry Gardens in Plantsville surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Cummings.
Pat was born March 8, 1932, in New Haven, the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Reynolds) Singleton.
A longtime resident of Cheshire, she was a communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church. She taught elementary school in the Cheshire Public Schools for the better part of 20 years until her retirement in 1996.

Pat enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends including trips to Australia, Ireland, and Cape Cod as well as their annual winter retreat to Naples, Florida. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her children and 11 grandchildren, celebrating individual special moments and achievements of the grandchildren. She especially loved the annual gatherings at summer “Camp” and Christmas where her entire family would join together for a few days of uninterrupted fun.
Pat is survived by her children, Michael Cummings (Susan), Thomas Cummings (Mary Lang), Catherine Dame (Robert), John Cummings (Jennifer), Mary Cummings-Barillaro (Mike); her grandchildren Sarah Fryling (Brian) and Jessica Cummings, Erin (Francis Amrit Gandhi), Matthew, Daniel and Meg Cummings, Kevin, Kyle, and Kelly Dame, and Bailey and Nolan Cummings; her brother John Singleton; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her son Peter and her sister Catherine Lamb.

The Cummings family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Mulberry Gardens, as well as Independence at Home, and Athena Hospice for the compassionate care that they provided in recent months.
Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Thomas Becket Church – St. Bridget of Sweden Parish for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire Fire Department, 250 Maple Avenue, Cheshire, CT 06410.
