Obituary: Robert J. Wade, 98, Of Cheshire

He served in the U.S. Army, in the European Theater, during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Robert J. Wade, 98, of Cheshire, husband of the late Rose Brennan Wade, passed away on December 31, 2023 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Mr. Wade was born February 28, 1925, son of the late Edward F. Wade and Margaret Flynn Wade. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Wright of Cheshire, Deborah McLaughlin of Cheshire, Margaret Lopresto (Wayne) of Brewster, MA., and his son, Robert J. Wade Jr. of Pompano Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his son, William, and his brother, Charles.

Bob graduated from Yale University, Class of 1945W. He served in the U.S. Army, in the European Theater, during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.

His employment of 37 years with ARCO Metals (formerly Anaconda American Brass Company), was primarily in Ansonia, CT., as mill superintendent. He later worked for some 12 years for Algonquin Industries in Guilford, CT., as Quality Assurance Manager. He was past Grand Knight of Carmel Council, Knights of Columbus.

Arrangements - A Mass of Christian burial will be held 12 noon on Friday, January 5, 2024 at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish / St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St, Cheshire, 06410. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 3110 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, Ct. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, is assisting with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions, in Bob's memory, may be made to Connecticut Hospice.
