Obituary: Thomas P. Quinn, 80, Of Cheshire

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Irex. He was a General Foreman for Metro-North Railroad.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Alderson-Ford Funeral Home): Thomas P. Quinn, 80, of Cheshire, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Connecticut Hospice surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of JoAnn (Bodie) Quinn.

Tom was born January 8, 1943, in Providence, RI, the son of the late John and Mary (Sullivan) Quinn. He moved to Connecticut in 1957 and graduated from Cheshire High School in 1961. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Irex. He was a General Foreman for Metro-North Railroad.

Besides his wife of 55 years, Tom is survived by his children Thomas Quinn Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, Sean Quinn and his wife Kristen, Meghan White, and her husband Aaron; his grandchildren Shea, Kaleigh, Madelyn, and Avery Quinn, Caoilainn, Jillian, and Harry Beardsley, Katherine and Keegan Eveland, Audrey, Zoe, Haley, and Dylan White, his brother Kevin Quinn as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother Marie Breen Quinn, his brother Jack Quinn, and his sister Nancy Gyurina.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:30 and process to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Community Food Pantry, P.O. Box 457, Cheshire, CT 06410.

The family would like to express their profound gratitude to Smilow Cancer Hospital and Connecticut Hospice for the excellent care he received.
