Officials Investigating Why Town-Wide Call Went Out In Middle Of The Night In Cheshire
"…we sincerely apologize for any alarm, inconvenience, or understandable frustration that this caused anyone who received the call."
CHESHIRE, CT — Town officials are investigating why a scheduled town-wide call went out in the middle of the night instead of Saturday afternoon.
A reverse notification call was set up at 3:25 p.m. on Friday, April 10, to be scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, to notify residents of road closures due to the ION Bank Half Marathon and 5K Race that was taking place on Sunday, April 12, according to Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Jack Casner.
“This call was set up with the direct assistance of the Town’s vendor CodeRed-Crisis 24,” Casner wrote in a news release. “For reasons that we are still investigating, the resulting call was sent out at 1:00 a.m. instead of 1:00 p.m. We are actively working with the vendor to determine why the call was sent out at the incorrect time.

“It was clearly not our intention to send this community alert in the middle of the night, and we sincerely apologize for any alarm, inconvenience, or understandable frustration that this caused anyone who received the call. As stated, we are working with our vendor to determine how this happened and what we need to do to prevent this from happening in the future.”
