Reopening Dates Announced For Parks, Community Pool In Cheshire
Officials have announced the reopening dates for town parks, Community Pool, the library and more.

CHESHIRE, CT — Officials have announced the reopening dates for town parks, Community Pool and the library.
Basketball courts are reopened as of June 18. Park restrooms will be opened in phases over the next few weeks, except for Mixville Park and Cheshire High School track area bathrooms which will remain closed until further notice, according to officials.
The Cheshire High School Track and Main Field will reopen June 20, while the Community Pool will open on June 22. Locker rooms will be closed, and there will be restrictions for social distancing. Visit the pool website here for details.

• Tennis Courts are open. The new Tennis and Pickleball courts at Cheshire Park will open June 20, 2020.

• Dog Park and Skate Park are open.
• Mixville Park is open with a limited capacity and some restrictions.
• Bartlem Park, Cheshire Park, and other Town parks and recreation areas are open. No gatherings of more than the current limit allowed by the most recent Governor’s Executive Order (see here).
• The Farmington Canal Linear Trail, and other Town trails and passive recreation areas are open.
• Organized sports activities are allowed with restrictions. Contact the Recreation Department at 203-272-2743 for information.
• Playgrounds will remain closed at this time per the guidance of the Chesprocott Health District.
• All facilities require a face mask or other cloth face that covers the nose and mouth completely inside a building and also when within six feet of another person outside (unless doing so is contrary to the visitor’s health or safety due to a medical condition). The public must practice social distancing, maintaining at least a six-foot distance between all persons.
The public is asked to keep facilities neat and clean; budget cuts have significantly reduced seasonal staff.
Reopening Dates for the Library Book Drop and Holds
• The Library book drop will be open Friday, June 19, 2020. Only the book drop by the parking lot will be open at this time. Fines will not accrue on any items. Patrons are asked to wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing when returning materials. All returned materials will be quarantined for seven days before they are checked in per the Health Department’s recommendations.
• Appointments to pick up existing holds will start on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. The Library will call patrons to schedule the appointments. This service will then be expanded to all Cheshire residents with valid library cards, including cards obtained online during our closure, on a date to be determined. Patrons can continue to place holds now.
Town B/C/C Meetings and Facilities Rentals
• Fields and pavilions at Cheshire Park and Bartlem Park will be available for rentals as of July 1, 2020. Mixville Pavilion will not be available until at least the end of July.
• Room rentals at Town Hall, the Youth Center, the Library, and the Senior Center will not be available until at least the end of July.
