Tobacco Compliance Checks Conducted In Cheshire
Police announce results of an unannounced inspection to see if local businesses were following state laws for the sale of tobacco products.
CHESHIRE, CT — Every business checked during this week’s unannounced compliance inspection was found to follow state laws regarding the sale of tobacco products to minors, Cheshire police announced Thursday.
Cheshire police conducted the compliance inspections, along with members of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, on Jan. 14. The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of 18, according to police.
An underage youth, who was employed by the Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, entered seven establishments and attempted to buy tobacco products.
