Volunteers Sought For Cheshire Fair Rent Commission
The newly established commission's purpose is to "regulate and eliminate excessive rental charges" for residential properties in Cheshire.
CHESHIRE, CT — The Town Council is recruiting five volunteers from the Cheshire community to serve on the newly established Town of Cheshire Fire Rent Commission.
Of the five appointed members:
- At least one shall be a licensed realtor or licensed real estate appraiser in Connecticut;
- At least one shall be a tenant;
- At least one (1) shall be a landlord.
“All members shall serve two-year terms starting in July 2023,” officials wrote in a news release. “The purpose of the Commission is to regulate and eliminate excessive rental charges for residential properties within the Town of Cheshire.

“The Commission shall receive complaints, make studies and investigations, and conduct hearings relative to excessive rental charges on Cheshire housing accommodations, except those rented on a seasonal basis, to control and eliminate excessive rental charges on and to carry out the provisions of C.G.S. §§ 7-148b to 7-148f, inclusive, C.G.S. § 47a-20 and Subsection (b) of C.G.S. § 47a-23c.
“Meetings will be held as needed to hear and investigate complaints.”

Residents interested in being considered for this appointment are asked to submit a note of interest, including a brief description of relevant areas of expertise, to the Town Council Chairman c/o the Town Manager’s Office to townmanager@cheshirect.org by Monday, June 19 at 12 p.m.
