"A Place At the Table" Free Screening

The Shoreline Basic Needs Taskforce is sponsoring a showing of "A Place at the Table", an award winning documentary exploring issues of hunger in America. The film will be shown at 1 p.m., Feb. 9th, at The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook. The event is free and open to the public.

According to the film, 50 million Americans"1 in 4 children"don't know where their next meal is coming from. A Place at the Table tells the powerful stories of three such Americans, who maintain their dignity even as they struggle just to eat. The film seeks to change how people think about the hungry, and offers ideas of how the issue could be solved.

Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at the door to benefit local food pantries, and there will be a brief question and answer discussion following the film.
