CLINTON, CT — A local man must serve 22 years in prison following his conviction on charges that he repeatedly sexually abused a child over several years.
Matthew Pixley, 46, of Clinton, will be on probation for 15 years after his release. If he violates it, he risks having to serve 40 years in prison instead of 22.
Judge Laura F. Baldini imposed the sentence on May 29 during a proceeding in Superior Court in Middletown.
Middlesex Judicial District State’s Attorney Michael A. Gailor announced the sentence on Tuesday.
According to prosecutors, the sexual abuse happened when the victim was between the ages of 8 and 13.
Following a court trial, Baldini found Pixley guilty of four counts of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and one count of risk of injury to a minor.
Gailor praised the courage of the victim to come forward and testify against Pixley.
“Judge Baldini complimented the victim on her ability to not only persevere, but also to succeed, despite the crimes committed against her,” the state’s attorney’s office said, in announcing the sentence.
