"I'm very pleased to see this funding make it onto the Bond Commission agenda," Aniskovich said in the release. "I was proud to advocate and fight for this project in Hartford, and I appreciate the State Bond Commission for including it on the agenda. There is still another step to go, but this is great news for Clinton."

The proposed project would convert the historic school property into new affordable housing, including housing opportunities for seniors, according to the release. A portion of the project is also expected to provide space for senior activities and programs.

Aniskovich said the project could preserve part of Clinton's history, create housing, provide space for seniors and return the property to the tax rolls.

The project includes plans to preserve a portion of the historic school while putting the property back into use, according to the release. Once completed, the development is expected to become a tax-paying property.

The State Bond Commission is scheduled to consider the funding at its Sept. 8 meeting.
