Clinton Crossing Outlets Closes Due To Winter Storm

Police are advising residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

CLINTON, CT — Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets is closed today, Jan. 4, due to the winter storm. A Blizzard Warning is in effect for Middlesex County as snow is expected to fall at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour and most of the state is expected to receive up to 1-foot of snow.

“We are monitoring the situation and will continue to evaluate conditions,” Clinton Crossing officials said in a statement. “Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets has been designated as a StormReady center by the National Weather Service which recognizes properties for their preparedness to handle all types of severe and potentially life-threatening weather situations through communications infrastructures, community outreach and hazardous weather training.”

A town-wide parking ban remains in effect in Clinton and police are advising residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

“The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning until 1 AM on Friday. Please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary,” Clinton Police said in a post on Facebook. “A town-wide parking ban remains in effect, so the DPW can plow as effectively as possible. As Always, Clinton’s Emergency Services are staffed and ready to respond.”

The Town of Clinton administrative offices are also closed on Thursday, Jan. 4.

“Our public safety leadership team is monitoring the forecast,” First Selectman Christine Goupil said in a post on Facebook. “We have made preparations for adequate public safety staffing should we need to respond to emergencies and the ability to open a municipal shelter should there be widespread power outages.”
