
The event, celebrating nature and native America will be held at the Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Connecticut on October 1st and 2nd (Saturday and Sunday) from 10 am to 5 pm. Highlights of this year’s event include:

- The Erin Meeches Native Nations Dance Troup
- Native American music, dance arts, crafts and foods
- Institute for American Indian Studies - Yale Peabody Museum
- Ranger Russ Miller – Live Reptile Demonstration
- A Place Called Hope – Live Birds of Prey Exhibit
- Exotic animals from the Beardsley Zoo
- Ancient technology demonstrations
- Environmental and conservation groups

Madison, Connecticut residents Dale Carson, a writer and artist of Abenaki descent, and Donald Rankin, M.D., who has an avid interest in local geology and history, created the Hammonasset Festival. The biannual event is presented by Friends of Hammonasset, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing environmental awareness programs and preserving the natural resources and integrity of Hammonasset Beach State Park and supporting the activities of Meigs Point Nature Center.
