The American Camp Association, New England (ACA New England) is pleased to announce the recent Accreditation of Camp Claire. Based along the banks of Lyme’s Hamburg Cove, Camp Claire offers coed one week sessions for children and teens between the ages of 5-16.
There are now roughly 400 camps throughout New England that are ACA Accredited, including neighboring Mystic Aquarium Summer Camp, another newly Accredited camp for this year.
Camp Claire’s mission is to provide a natural community environment that encourages curiosity and creativity, and increases self-esteem, while providing a lifetime of memories that prepares children for an active place in a multicultural society. Since 1916, Camp Claire has been giving campers a rustic old-fashioned summer camp experience with swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, arts and crafts, sports, a ropes course, and more.

American Camp Association’s (ACA) Accreditation is a mark of distinction from the only national nonprofit organization accrediting camps. Administering the ACA Accreditation program in New England is a key way that ACA New England supports campers, camp seekers, parents and professionals. Camp Claire went through a comprehensive and thorough review to achieve their ACA Accredited camp status.
“By becoming ACA Accredited, Camp Claire has demonstrated their commitment to a safe, healthy, and nurturing summer camp environment,” said Bette Bussel, Executive Director for ACA New England. “Camp Claire not only cares about their campers and the growth, learning, and memories they will experience, but also strives to meet the highest quality of standards designed for camps.”
