Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on I-95 in Clinton: UPDATE

State Police are asking for witnesses to the crash, which shut down a portion of I-95 North for several hours on Thursday.

CLINTON, CT — A 56-year-old Naugatuck man was killed in a motorcycle crash on I-95 North in Clinton on Thursday afternoon.

State Police say Glenn Papcun, of Cardinal Lane, was ejected from his motorcycle in the accident and died from his injuries at the scene.

Papcun was traveling northbound in the right lane 3/4 of a mile north of Exit 62 in Clinton at about 1:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

State Police said physical evidence at the scene indicates that the motorcycle was braking heavily as it veered from the right-travel lane into the breakdown lane, prior to striking the metal beam guard rail on the right shoulder of the road.

Papcun was thrown from the motorcycle during the collision and landed in the grass area on the other side of the guard rail, police said in a press release.

The motorcycle continued on, traveling across the breakdown lane, the right and left lanes of travel prior to striking the Jersey barrier in the center median, according to police.

The crash shut down a portion of I-95 North for several hours on Thursday afternoon.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
