Monica Power: Rotary Student of the Month

Traveled to Ghana to work with needy children.

student Monica Power, a senior, was honored October 27 as "Student of the Month."

Power was joined at the for a dinner in her honor by members of Clinton Rotary, her nominating teacher Laura Luther, and her father, Mike Power.

Marcia Bird, Clinton Rotary Club's Student of the Month chairperson, presented Power with a special award and plaque.

Luther, a Spanish teacher at Morgan, said Power is involved in many activities at the school including her role as President of the Uganda Club, a member of Amnesty International and a member of the Spanish National Honor Society.

"A humanitarian who traveled to Ghana to work with children much less fortunate than she, she plays the trumpet and she works at ShopRite," stated Luther. "Monica is a beautiful example of kindness, compassion and generosity. She has a loving heart, a spirited personality and a quick wit that will certainly brighten anyone's day."
