Obituary: Everett Frederick Pinder, 91, of Clinton

Everett Frederick Pinder, 91, of Clinton, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on January 23, 2019. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to George and Irene (Goss) Pinder on February 27, 1927. He was most proud of his service as Seaman First Class in the United States Navy aboard the USS LST 10-27, where he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal.

He was a longtime Clinton resident, where he raised his family, spent many hours fishing at the Clinton Town Dock, boating in Clinton Harbor, building three homes, and claiming his own barstool at Shanks. Everett spent many years as an electrician in IBEW Local 90, most of it working at the Millstone Power Plant in Niantic.

Everett and Geraldine (Grammy) ultimately became snowbirds and summered at the Riverdale Campground. While in Dunedin and, later Safety Harbor, Florida, Everett could be found passing time grafting lemons and limes to create “limons,” feeding the alligators, and became handyman to all. He returned to Clinton full time in 2012, spending his last years blessing us with tales of WWII, death-defying roller coaster rides in Agawam as a kid, and making the infamous Pinder’s Horseradish on Pratt Road.

Everett was predeceased by his loving wife, Geraldine (Drumm) Pinder, a brother, Robert Pinder of Clinton, a sister, Connie and is survived by a son, Richard (Lynn) Pinder of Clinton, and two daughters, Sara Pinder of Clinton, and Cheryl Donati of Fort Myers, Florida. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a brother, George Pinder of Groton.
