Old Saybrook Police Officer Accused Of Illegally Using System: Report
An Old Saybrook officer has been charged with illegally using an enforcement system to get a woman's name.
OLD SAYBROOK, CT — An Old Saybrook police officer is accused of illegally using the Connecticut On-Line Law Enforcement Teleprocessing System to gather information on a woman he saw while on a security detail, according to WTNH News-8.
Josh Zarbo, 30, was charged with third-degree computer crime. He has been with the department since 2017.
Zarbo was on security detail at the Old Saybrook Walmart on Nov. 25 when he texted another officer to run the woman's vehicle registration, then requested the information over the radio system, WTNH News-8 reported. Once he had the information, he then followed the woman on Instagram.

Zarbo was released on $5,000 bond, according to the New London Day. He has been placed on administrative leave with no law enforcement authority.
Police began their investigation when they received a complaint from a third party who heard the woman's name broadcast on a police scanner, The New London Day reported.
