Person Rescued From Frigid Waters In Clinton
The person was taken to the hospital after being pulled from the river, according to officials.
CLINTON, CT — Emergency crews rescued a person from the frigid waters of the Hammonasset River in Clinton on Tuesday morning, according to officials.
Members of the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, Madison Hose Co. No. 1, and Madison Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a report of a person in the water on the Hammonasset River, according to a post on the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page.
“A CPD officer arrived first on scene and was able to throw the individual a rope,” officials wrote in the post. “With the assistance of CVFD personnel and staff from Riverbend Marina, responders successfully pulled the individual to shore. The individual was then assisted to an awaiting ambulance and transported for medical evaluation.

“This incident marks our 147th call for service so far this year. At this pace, January is on track to be one of the busiest—if not the busiest—on record. We have also responded to several other notable incidents this month, including multiple minor fires and several significant motor vehicle accidents.”
