Rose Rollar Buell, 92, a longtime resident and married for 67 years to the late Daniel W. Buell, a direct descendant of Samuel Buell, a founder of Clinton, died peacefully June 1, 2011.
She was the daughter of the late Rose and Joseph Rollar who owned the famous Buffalo Farm.
Rose was a graduate of The Morgan School. She conducted her own business as an expert seamstress. She was active in the Clinton Historical Society, American Legion, Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the Tercentenary Committee, Red Cross, and numerous other civic organizations, in addition to being a poll worker for elections.
She shared her husband's dedication to the Buell family, and when Dan's cousin, the late Dr. Jesse Buell could no longer live alone, they became his live-in companions.
The Buell Tool Museum at the Historical Society's Old Brick is their donation of a former Buell workshop and its contents of early Buell tools.
The couple were avid square dancers. In retirement they toured the USA and Canada with the Clamdiggers Camping Group.
Rose's survivors include two daughters, Linda Holmes of North Branford and Susan Smith and husband Roy of East Greenville, Pa.; grandchildren, Bonnie Finkeldey and husband Michael of Clinton and John Ruik Holmes of Branford; great grandson Jeremy Finkeldey of Clinton, and a brother George and wife Delores of Grand Caymen Islands.
