Students Evacuated From School Bus After Reported Threat: Clinton PD

An investigation determined that the threat wasn't credible, according to police.

CLINTON, CT — Middle school students were evacuated from a school bus while a reported threat was investigated Monday afternoon in Clinton, according to police.

The Clinton Emergency Communications Center received a 911 text message around 2:55 p.m. on March 30 reporting a potential threat involving a school bus transporting students after dismissal from Jared Eliot Middle School, according to Sgt. Spencer Mangs.

Mang said the bus was located in the area of Fairy Dell Road at the time of the report.

“Officers from the Clinton Police Department responded immediately and, as a precautionary measure, safely evacuated all students from the bus,” Mangs wrote in a news release. “Officers conducted a thorough investigation and quickly determined that the reported threat was not credible.

“Following the investigation, students safely reboarded the bus and continued their normal dismissal route. All students were transported and dropped off at their designated stops without further incident.”

Mangs said there is no threat to the public or the school community.

“The Clinton Police Department would like to thank the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, Clinton Public Schools, and M&J Bus Company for their assistance and coordinated response,” Mangs wrote. “We also appreciate the patience and cooperation of parents while emergency personnel worked to ensure the safety of all students.

“The Clinton Police Department takes all threats seriously in its mission to keep Clinton safe.”
