Toddler Seriously Injured After Opening Door Of Moving Car In Clinton
A 2-year-old was seriously injured when he opened the door of a moving car and "separated from the vehicle," according to state police.

CLINTON, CT — A 2-year-old was seriously injured after he opened a car door and left the vehicle, according to state police.
The accident occurred on Sunnybrook Lane in Clinton on Tuesday at 3:14 p.m.
Police said a 2024 Toyota Highlander was traveling north on the road and was negotiating a curve when the child opened the passenger rear door and "separated from the vehicle."

The SUV came to rest facing a northwesterly direction. The child came to rest on the road in the area of the SUV's right rear tire, police said.
The toddler was taken to Yale Children's Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries. The driver was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for possible injuries.

The child was not properly restrained in the car, according to police.
