Westbrook Boarding School Student Attacked Victim With Axe: Reports

A student accused of assaulting another student with an axe was taken into custody after a three-day manhunt, according to reports.

WESTBROOK, CT — An Oxford Academy student is accused of attacking another student with an axe on the Westbrook campus Friday night, NBC CT reported.

The student was later charged with attempted murder. The victim was taken by LifeStar helicopter to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to state police.

Police responded to the Oxford Academy campus on Boston Post Road around 8:30 p.m. on reports that a child was injured.

Security footage showed one teen assaulting another and then running off. State police, K9s, and a police done were involved in a wide-ranging, three-day search before bringing the juvenile suspect into custody, WTNH News-8 reported.

He was brought to a hospital for medical evaluation and remains in custody, according to state police. He was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder.

A school official confirmed that the incident happened on campus and that the hospitalized student was in stable condition, according to WTNH News-8.

The families of both juveniles were notified of the incident.
