2 Danbury Residents Arrested in New York for Possessing Loaded Handguns, More than 100 Grams of Marijuana

Troopers said the pair had a large amount of marijuana in the car, as well as a number of loaded firearms without permits.

DANBURY, CT - New York State Police said they arrested two Danbury residents charged with illegally possessing marijuana and a number of loaded handguns.

Officers arrested Careem C. Campbell, 28, and Ashley L. Mann, 24, both of Danbury on Thursday following a traffic stop, according to a release.

Troopers stopped the pair's Honda Civic on Interstate 84 for swerving and said they smelled marijuana. They then asked Campbell, who had been the driver, to exit the vehicle and discovered that he unlawfully had two loaded handguns.

Mann was also found to have a loaded handgun, and neither suspects had a permit to carry the firearms in New York. Troopers also found approximately 110 grams of marijuana in the car.

The suspects were arraigned in court, after which Campbell was brought to the Putnam County Jail and Mann was remanded on $1,000 cash bail. Both are scheduled to appear in court again on January 10.
