State Funding Approved For Danbury Bridge “In Dire Need Of Repairs”

DANBURY, CT — State officials announced plans to approve $2.3 million in bonding for rehabilitation work on the Kennedy Avenue Bridge in Danbury.

According to state officials, the Connecticut State Bond Commission is expected to approve the funding request during its May 29 meeting.

Officials said the bridge, which was built in 1964, is “in dire need of repairs.” The project will include bridge deck work, sidewalk reconstruction, roadway resurfacing and landscaping improvements.

Officials expect the project to take approximately 10 months to complete.

State Sen. Julie Kushner said the funding would help avoid additional costs for local taxpayers.

Officials said the total project cost is expected to be approximately $4.6 million and will be fully funded by the state.
