4 Danbury Bars Violated Coronavirus Orders: Police

Violations cited include tables that were not positioned six feet apart, and employees not wearing masks.

DANBURY, CT — Police have accused five owners of local bars with violating public health emergency orders. The charges came after the owners had ignored prior warnings by the police.

Violations cited include tables that were not positioned six feet apart, employees not wearing masks, and patrons ordering drinks at bars that did not have partitions.

Genia Alvarez-Rodriguez and Manuel Honorato Andrade, owners of La Canchita Restaurant & Bar on Delay Street; Segundo Velasquez, owner of the Red House Bar & Cafe on Keeler Street; Erika Fajardo-Sumba, owner of La Costeñita Bar & Restaurant on Ives Street; and Juan Carlos Villa, owner of Fajitas and Margaritas on Main Street.

According to police reports, the arrests were made July 4 in conjunction with visits by police to "make sure bars and restaurants were in compliance" with Gov. Ned Lamont's Executive Order detailing restrictions on outdoor dining during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All five owners are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 27.
