4 Danbury Businesses Cited For Violation Of State Liquor Laws

Police conducted 7 unannounced state liquor law compliance inspections in Danbury on Friday. Of these, 4 establishments were cited.

DANBURY, CT — Police conducted seven unannounced state liquor law compliance inspections in Danbury on Friday. Of these, four establishments were cited.

The inquiries were initiated after the Danbury Police Department received a growing number of complaints related to these establishments, according to Det. Lt. David Pardovich.

The four businesses that were cited by Liquor Control were:
  • La Costenita, 2B Ives Street: No patio permit, unlawful conduct (hookah smoking)
  • La Noche (formerly Zona Azul), 103 Railroad Place: Refilled alcohol bottles
  • Caribbean Café, 127 Park Avenue: Unlawful Conduct (hookah smoking)
  • Barberie's Grill, 7 Backus Avenue: Served alcohol to 3 underage patrons

The three other businesses inspected which were found to be in compliance were:

  • Copacabana Café, 12 Ives Street

The inspections were orchestrated by members of the Connecticut Department of Liquor Control along with members of the Danbury Police Special Investigations Division and officers from the Patrol Division.

The Connecticut Department of Liquor Control submitted an investigation report and will be following up with possible enforcement action, according to Pardovich.
