7 Danbury Smoke Shops Found In Violation Of State Laws

DANBURY, CT — State law enforcement agents have cited seven Danbury businesses for violation of Connecticut laws regarding the sale of tobacco or electronic cigarettes

Members of the Danbury Police Department Special Investigations Division, working with the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, conducted the unannounced compliance inspections on June 13, according to Danbury PD Det. Lt. David Pardovich.

Out of 15 stings, seven shops were cited for selling an e-cigarette or vape product to a person under 21. State law requires retailers to inspect the photo ID of anyone who appears under the age of 30 before selling a tobacco product or electronic cigarette.

The clerks at the non-compliant establishments were issued a first-time infraction in the amount of $300. Tobacco retailers are licensed by the state Department of Revenue Services, and non-compliant inspection results are referred to DRS for possible administrative action, Pardovich said.

The following retailers were found to be non-compliant:

Cloud House, 60 Newtown Rd.
Cloud 9, 130 Federal Rd.
Cloud House 2, 101 Mill Plain Rd.
Smoke House, 10 Mill Plain Rd.
Flyt Smoke, 20 Backus Ave.
Huff & Puff, 40 Padanaram Rd.
The Smoke Lab, 10 Main St.

The following retailers were found to be compliant:

Resistance Vapor and Smoke Shop, 12 Mill Plain Rd.
Vape Point, 81 Newtown Rd.
Danbury Smoke Shop, 128 Federal Rd.

Shirley’s Smoke Shop, 16 Great Plain Rd.
All the Smoke, 6 Ives St.
