Crack Cocaine, Gun Seized In Danbury Drug Investigation: Police (patch.com) — Danbury police say a monthlong investigation into local drug sales led to the arrest of a Danbury woman and a Brookfield man, along with the seizure of crack cocaine and a firearm. Detectives focused on a Fairfield Ridge residence, a Danbury Housing Authority property, and report witnessing a drug sale on South Street before making the arrests and recovering additional narcotics and paraphernalia.
2. How a Connecticut district gave its high school a career-connected revamp (k12dive.com) — Families in Danbury should know that Danbury High School has fully shifted to a wall-to-wall career academy model, offering 21 themed pathways designed to connect every student's coursework with real-world careers and college preparation. Superintendent Kara Casimiro explains how the district built the academies, expanded work-based learning and industry credentials, and is now extending career exploration into earlier grades to better guide first-generation students.
3. Two people hurt in clash with ICE at CT courthouse. Some ask what about the Trust Act? (courant.com) — Danbury residents are at the center of growing concern over how federal immigration raids and courthouse arrests square with Connecticut's Trust Act, after local activists reported parents detained at bus stops and workers picked up at Kennedy Park. Following a tense ICE encounter in Meriden, Danbury organizers are urging state leaders to investigate possible violations, strengthen oversight, and fund legal and rapid-response support for immigrant families.
4. Blumenthal, Lamont: Trump blocking CT grants for political reasons (ctmirror.org) — A hydrogen refueling project planned partly at a Danbury facility is on hold as Connecticut officials say the Trump administration is illegally blocking $53 million in previously awarded clean-energy grants. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Gov. Ned Lamont argue the money was cut for partisan reasons, warning that research institutions and companies across the state are losing critical time and investment while court-ordered funds remain unreleased.
