Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity Team Up to Build Homes for Danbury Family during Third Global Build
Home build comes as part of Bank of America's broader $174,500 commitment to revitalize the Southern Connecticut community

Last week, nearly 20 Bank of America employee volunteers teamed up with Housatonic Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven to build new homes in Danbury and New Haven. The Hospital Avenue house in Danbury will serve as a secure and affordable home to Josh and Jamie Woody, along with their son Julian. In New Haven, Adjana Bangna and his wife, Waharietou Madougou, will move into the Sherman Parkway house with their three children.
“Through the support of Housatonic Habitat for Humanity and Bank of America, we’re now able to have a place to call home that fits not only our current needs, but our future needs as well,” said Josh Woody. “We’re excited to starting our lives and raising our son in our new family home here in Danbury.”
“When we applied for a Habitat home, we were five people living in a two bedroom apartment that was too expensive for us and had conditions that were unfit for our three young children,” said Adjana Bangna, “Now, Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven has fulfilled our dream and we are building our own house, where our daughter will finally have her own room.”

These homes come as part of the third Habitat Global Build (#GlobalBuild), hosted in celebration of the bank’s 30 year commitment to Habitat for Humanity. Throughout the week, thousands of Bank of America employee volunteers and representatives from Habitat for Humanity are coming together to revitalize communities and help families like the Woodys and Bangna and Madougou achieve the dream of homeownership. Revitalization projects will take place in 85 communities across the eight countries, including the U.S.
“When individuals and families have access to affordable housing, they are better positioned for long-term financial stability and success,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut market president, Bank of America. “Through our partnership with Habitat for Humanity, we’re delighted to help families access the resources they need to gain economic mobility, and in turn, build a thriving community.”

“Affordable housing is a critical stepping stone on the path to stability and success,” said Fran Normann, Housatonic Habitat for Humanity executive director. “Through our partnership with Bank of America, we are working to connect more families in the area to affordable housing and strengthen our community.”
The Global Build is just one way that Bank of America is helping advance a thriving community in southern Connecticut as part of its approach to responsible growth. This year, Bank of America has invested $174,500 in 18 local nonprofits that support neighborhood revitalization in southern Connecticut.
