Chamber Home Show Today

The 51st Annual Home and Leisure Show sponsored by the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Danbury Fair mall.

A Home and Leisure show is on today at the Danbury Fair Mall, giving people a chance to consider any remodeling project or improvements they might like to make to their home.

The event is the 51st sponsored by the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce dating back to the 1960s when it was held at the Danbury Armory. About 80 firms are exhibiting this year, said Stephen Bull, president of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce.

"It gives the businesses and the tradespeople a chance to show homeowners what they can do," said Bull.

“We’re aligned with the state’s curriculum. We’re for children three and up,” said Damalas, who has been operating the franchise at 67 Federal Road (former location of Porch & Patio) for a year now. The system works with children on math and English skills, including writing, and Damalas said the first improvement she typically sees is the child’s enthusiasm for learning grows.

“Their self-confidence goes Wow,” Damalas said.

The Danbury Westerners have a booth.

“We’re here to remind people we’re the baseball team in the Greater Danbury area,” said Michael Malone, who works with the Westerners.
