City Council to Hear Expansion Plan for Danbury High School
The $62 million expansion plan is in response to a growing student population.

Officials plan on bringing a $62 million expansion plan for Danbury High School to a vote by June, the News Times reports.
According to the publication, the expansion plans for the high school include construction of a free-standing building on the high school campus to house the Academic Center for Excellence or ACE and building a new wing to house the freshman academy.
The expansions are a response to projections that the high school population will rise to 3,300 students by 2020.

Voters would have to approve borrowing the $62 million through a bond issue and the state would expectedly pay $38 million of the total, the News Times reports. Mayor Mark Boughton and Superintendent Sal Pascarella want to schedule the referendum in time to qualify of the reimbursement from the state Department of Education.
The plan will be presented to the City Council on Tuesday.
