Connecticut Master Chorale Spring Concert - POSTPONED

CONNECTICUT MASTER CHORALE CELEBRATES DAVE BRUBECK AT 100

The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, will present its 21st annual Spring Concert on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury, CT.

The program will feature To Hope! A Celebration by Dave Brubeck, an exciting work of grand proportion and a monumental affirmation of hope and exultation. Composed in 1979, it is powerful, multi-faceted, and displays his superb choral writing ability with profoundly moving passages, dance-like rhythms, deep emotion, and a strong sense of optimism.

Mr. Brubeck became a legend in the 1950s for his iconic and revolutionary jazz, but many of those adoring fans were unaware that he was a classically trained musician. During a career lasting more than six decades, he also created a substantial body of innovative secular and religious works integrating classical music with jazz.

Dave Brubeck often mentioned To Hope! as one of the highlights of his career. We honor this remarkable man in the 100th year of his birth and are pleased to participate in the official world-wide centennial celebration: Dave Brubeck 100.

The Chorale first performed Brubeck's Mass To Hope! in March 2000 with his son Chris Brubeck in attendance. We look forward to singing this magnificent work again and introducing it to a new audience!
