The incident is still under investigation by the State Police Western District Major Crime Unit.

DANBURY, CT — The officer who shot and killed a man at the Glen Apartment complex on Saturday night was in "imminent, life-threatening danger and acted in self-defense" according to a release issued by the Danbury Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the 98-unit complex on Memorial Drive when gunfire was heard round 9:30 p.m. and residents reported a "suspicious male"on the premises, according to a state police report.

Upon arrival on the scene, officers observed a man wielding a knife walking the exterior of the property. After a brief confrontation with the man one of the officers deployed his taser on him, but it was ineffective, according to police. Shortly after a second officer fired multiple rounds from his duty pistol striking the knife-wielding man at least once. A tenant, and female relative of the male, also suffered a gunshot wound as a result of the discharge of the officer's weapon.
