CT National Guard Mourns Loss Of Woman Killed In Shooting

One of the victims in a double killing in Worcester last week was a decorated member of the National Guard in Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — Chasity Nuñez, a Worcester woman killed with her daughter in their car last week, was a member of the Connecticut National Guard.

Nuñez and her 11-year-old daughter Zella were sitting in a car along Lisbon Street in the Columbus Park neighborhood of Worcester around 3 p.m. last Tuesday when someone in a vehicle fired dozens of shots at them. They died at a local hospital.

Nuñez was a decorated patient administration specialist serving with the 142nd Medical Company in Danbury. She began serving in 2020 and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Service Ribbon, and the Army Achievement Medal, MassLive reported.
