DANBURY, CT — A city councilman has donated the funds needed to build a new animal control shelter.

Councilman Warren Levy's contribution of $300,000 to the city in honor of his late wife, Ellen, will allow Danbury to tear down the old structure on Plumtrees Road and build a brand new shelter.

Ellen Levy's "selfless legacy of giving and caring for those who could not care for themselves will certainly live on and we will be proud to have her name on our new building," Danbury Animal Control posted on social media.
