Danbury Coronavirus Update: 1,038 Active Cases, 50 Dead

Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Mayor Mark Boughton reported that the death toll from the new coronavirus is now 50, up three from Wednesday's tally. There are 1,038 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The total number of confirmed positive coronavirus cases in Connecticut is now at 15,884, and 971 deaths have been reported, along with 1,929 hospitalizations currently, according to Gov. Ned Lamont on Thursday. Over the past 24 hours 103 new deaths were reported, 1,129 new positive cases and an additional 18 hospitalizations.

Lamont called the death totals "so disheartening."

He said new hospital admissions in Fairfield County is down 10 percent despite a large increase at Bridgeport Hospital. New Haven County has seen a 35 percent decline in new hospital admissions but there is an increase of 30 percent new hospital admissions in Hartford.
