Danbury Democrats Endorse Juanita Harris For Board Of Ed Vacancy

The Danbury DTC unanimously endorsed Juanita Harris to fill the BOE vacancy left by Joe DaSilva Jr.​ earlier this week.

DANBURY, CT — Last Wednesday night, the Danbury Democratic Town Committee unanimously endorsed Juanita Harris to fill the vacancy left by Joe DaSilva Jr. earlier this week on the Danbury Board of Education.

“We’re thrilled to endorse such a qualified, capable leader to fill the vacancy on the Board of Education,” said Democratic Town Committee Chair Roberto Alves. “Juanita Harris’ distinguished career as a guidance counselor, her intimate knowledge of Danbury Public Schools, and her deep understanding of the needs of our students as they navigate the challenges and pressures of their academic careers make her the most qualified candidate for the job and we have full confidence in her ability to serve.”

“I’m honored to have the unanimous support of the Danbury Democrats to become the next member of the Board of Education. I look forward to participating in the process and to serving the students, parents, teachers, and administrators in Danbury Public Schools.” Harris said.

Juanita Harris was born and raised in Danbury, education in Danbury Schools and returned as a University of Harford graduate to work in the school system. After a 44 year career in DPS as a professional educator and counselor, she retired in June 2021.
