Danbury Eagle Scout Presented With State Legislative Citation

DANBURY, CT — A Danbury Eagle Scout has been honored for his achievements by the Connecticut General Assembly.

As an active member of Troop 52, Eagle Scout Joshua Maruffi has earned 64 merit badges to date and served in various leadership roles.

At the Eagle Scout Court of Honor, held this past Saturday at King Street United Church of Christ, Maruffi was recognized by State Rep. Rachel Chaleski on behalf of the Danbury's legislative delegation and the entire General Assembly.

"I was honored to present Joshua with a citation recognizing his hard work. I've known his mother for years, serving on the City-Wide PTO together and know how beneficial his project will be for Danbury students," Chaleski said in a news release.

Maruffi is the 102nd Troop 52 member to achieve Eagle Scout.

For his Eagle project, Maruffi led the design and construction of a sensory walk path at Pembroke Elementary School, where he also attended. Pembroke is known for its programs for special needs students. The path is made of various materials, such as pebbles, sand, grass, and wood, which are designed to stimulate the touch senses, relieve stress, and maintain self-control and focus, which in turn can lead to better results in the classroom.

Maruffi is currently a senior at Danbury High School, and serves as stage manager for the DHS Musical Theater Stage Crew.
