Danbury Fair Store Metropark in Bankruptcy

HARTFORD –Attorney General George Jepsen advised Connecticut consumers Friday that clothing retailer Metropark USA has filed for bankruptcy and will be closing its 71 stores in 20 states, including three in Connecticut.

 Metropark USA has stores in Danbury Fair Mall, the Westfield -Trumbull Shopping Mall and Westfarms Mall in Farmington. Closing sales were expected to begin today and conclude by June 30.

 “We will monitor these sales to ensure that consumers are protected as the company is required to do in the court’s order. Customer lists and consumers’ personal information will not be disclosed,” Jepsen said.

 Merchandise purchased prior to the store closing sales may be returned with a receipt, but only for the first 30 days of the sale. Returns will be subject to certain conditions, including Metropark’s return policy in effect at the time of the original purchase.

 Merchandise purchased during the closing will be sold “as is” and sales are final.  Metropark giftcards will be accepted during the sale period.
